BASIC COMPUTER


Introduction to Computers

Students will get most out of this course if their goal is to learn the basics of personal computers. In this course students will learn the evolution of computers, types of PCs, and the Input-Process-Output cycle, and switch on a computer and identify the desktop components. 

Windows Vista Basic

Students will learn how to use the Start menu, move and resize windows, manage files and folders, and perform content searches. They will also create shortcuts, change system settings, and browse the Web with Internet Explorer 7. 

Windows Vista Advanced

Students will learn how to scan for spyware, manage user accounts, change file attributes, and create a complete PC backup. They will also learn how to manage the print queue, enable file sharing, use Windows Meeting Space, and publish a calendar.  

WORD PROCESSING


Word 2003 Basic

Students will learn how to create and edit documents, move and copy text, format characters and paragraphs, create and manage tables, control page layout, and use proofing tools. They値l also learn how to work with Word痴 integrated Web and e-mail features.

Word 2003 Intermediate

Students will learn how to work with sections format tables, import Excel data, create and modify styles, and work with headers and footers. They will also learn how to print labels and envelopes, work with graphics and objects, apply and create templates, and manage document versions.

Word 2003 Advanced

Students will learn how to perform a mail merge, create and modify forms, work with large documents, and create macros. They値l also learn how to customize menus and toolbars, and they値l work with Word痴 XML-based features.

Word 2007 Basic

Students will learn how to enter and edit text, and save and browse documents. They will learn how to enhance the appearance of a document by using various formatting options. They will also create tables, insert headers and footers, proof and print documents, and insert graphics.

SPREADSHEET


Excel 2003 Basic

In this instructor-led course students will learn how to enter and edit data, labels, and formulas, work with functions, format cells, print worksheets, create charts, and save a workbook as a Web page.

Excel 2003 Intermediate

Students will learn how to work with large worksheets, use 3-D formulas, customize Excel痴 toolbars and menus, apply special cell formatting, sort and filter lists, create combination charts and trendlines, use Excel痴 auditing features, and work with templates.

Excel 2003 Advanced

Students will learn how to create nested functions, export/import data, perform what-if analyses, use the Goal Seek and Solver utilities, record and run macros, and use SharePoint services.

Excel 2007 Basic

Students will learn spreadsheet terminology and window components and how to navigate worksheets and workbooks. Enter and edit text, values, formulas, and pictures, and will save workbooks in various formats. Students will also move and copy data, learn about absolute and relative references, and work with ranges, rows, and columns. And will create and modify charts, and learn how to manage large workbooks. 

PRESENTATION


PowerPoint 2003 Basic

Students will learn how to create presentations, rearrange and delete slides, use the Formatting toolbar, set tabs, and align text. Work with objects, AutoShapes, text boxes, fill colors, WordArt, and other types of images. They値l create tables, apply a design template, work with slide masters, add headers and footers, use the proofing tools. And learn how to create links between presentations and save a presentation for Web delivery.

PowerPoint 2003 Advanced

Students will learn how to create and modify templates, build a custom slide master, and insert multimedia elements. They値l also learn advanced techniques for working with charts, tables, clip art, and drawing tools. Students will add and modify action buttons, use advanced delivery techniques, customize and create toolbars, and create macros. Finally, they値l learn how to integrate PowerPoint with other Office programs.

PowerPoint 2007 Basic

This instructor-led course covers the basic functions and features of PowerPoint 2007. Students will create new presentations that include text, graphics, WordArt, tables, charts, and diagrams. They will also edit and format slide content, and apply transition effects.

Access 2003 Basic

Students will learn how to plan and create a database, work with tables, create queries and forms, filter records, and generate reports.

Access 2003 Intermediate

Students will learn how to set table relationships, work with Lookup fields and sub-datasheets, create join queries, create PivotTables and PivotCharts, and use hyperlink fields and data access pages.

Access 2003 Advanced

Students will learn how to: query with SQL; use crosstab, parameter, and action queries; create and run macros; import, export, and link database objects; optimize, replicate, and synchronize databases; and maintain database security.

Access 2007 Basic

Students will learn how to design and create databases; work with tables, fields, and records; sort and filter data; and create queries, forms, and reports.

WEBSITE AUTHORING


FrontPage 2003 Basic

Students will learn how to create and format Web pages, work with lists and tables, create, test, and update hyperlinks, and develop a Web-site navigation structure. They値l also learn how to work with images, apply a theme to a Web site, and edit HTML code. Finally, they値l learn how to publish a Web site and set site permissions.

FrontPage 2003 Advanced

Students will learn how to apply DHTML effects, insert animations, create banner ads, and use style sheets. They値l also learn how to work with forms, frames, layers, and behaviors. They値l use layout tables, layout tools, and reports. Finally, they値l learn how to manage browser compatibility, use Dynamic Web Templates, and promote a Web site.

Macromedia Dreamweaver Basic

Students will learn basic Web and HTML concepts, navigate and customize the environment, and work with the Code Inspector, the Tag Inspector, and the Quick Tag Editor.  Students will also, plan and define a Web site, create, save, and import text in a document, and modify page properties. Define headings and paragraphs, create lists, insert tables, add text content, insert and delete rows and columns, create table headers, align text in table cells, modify table properties, and create table summaries.

PUBLISHING AND DESIGN


Publisher 2003 Basic

Students will learn how to create a publication, adjust its page setup, enter and edit text, insert pictures, and create and modify text frames. They値l also learn how to work with multipage publications, objects, graphics, and tables, as well as how to print publications.

Publisher 2003 Advanced

Topic coverage includes newsletters, Web site design and publication, hyperlinks, and hot spots. Students will also learn how to perform a mail merge and import data from other Office applications.

InDesign CS Basic

Students will learn how to manipulate text, shapes, colors, and frames to create eye-catching print products.

InDesign CS Advanced

Students will learn how to manipulate page layout, control the appearance of text and tables, and create books, tables of content, and indices. They will also learn how to convert documents to PDF, HTML, and XML format, work with XML features and tags, and apply a variety of print options. Students should have basic-level experience with InDesign CS.

Adobe Photoshop CS Basic

Students will learn how to use the Photoshop痴 basic tools, palettes, and features to create images, retouch photographs, and then save them. Before taking this course, students should be comfortable using Microsoft Windows XP and have some experience drawing basic images on screen.

Adobe Photoshop CS Advanced

Students will learn how to create artwork for both print and the Web. Before taking this course, students should have basic photo editing skills, and they should know how to create simple shapes and drawings.

Adobe Illustrator CS Basic

Students will review the environment and create simple and complex shapes and paths. Students will modify the objects by adding color, patterns, and gradients, changing the stroke, and copying attributes between objects. They will also group objects, create layers, make crop marks, and print illustrations.

Macromedia Flash Basic

This course introduces students to creating and editing shapes, applying colors and line styles, combining shapes, importing bitmaps, and converting bitmaps to vector shapes. Course activities also cover adding and formatting text, using layers to arrange shapes, and modifying the layers. Finally, students use Onion Skin to create a frame-by-frame animation, play the animation, and work with templates.

ACCOUNTING


Quickbooks Professional

Students learn how to set up a new company file, create accounts payable/receivable lists, prepare business forms such as invoices and purchase orders, receive payments, and write and print checks. Cover activities also cover transferring funds between accounts, editing transactions, and setting up the payroll. Students will also learn how to create reports and budgets, and secure the company file by applying passwords and creating back-up files.
